The Christmas menu at Pret A Manger features 15 different dishes, plus drinks. You can enjoy a Christmas wrap or a turkey breast sandwich, complete with stuffing, cranberry and port sauce. There’s even a veggie alternative. And for something sweet, they’ve Christmas tiffin (like Christmas pudding rice krispie cakes apparently!).
EAT. have a similarly comprehensive festive menu of both hot and cold food. Their Chestnut Hot Pot contains roast chestnuts on winter vegetable stew, with mash potato and cranberry sauce – whilst their Turkey Hot Pot swaps the chestnuts for sliced sage and onion turkey. For other festive options, try their brie and cranberry toastie, or baguette with turkey, cranberry sauce, sage and onion stuffing and smoked ham.
Leon have launched a “LEON NOEL” – a turkey wrap with pork, sage & onion stuffing balls, roasted bacon, spinach, olive oil mayonnaise and a cranberry and port sauce.
If you’re looking for festive but more than a bite at lunch, you may want to try one of London’s many burger joints, grills and restaurants offering special Christmas edition burgers…
Our friends at Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar have a Christmas Burger of buttermilk-fried turkey, topped with a sausage patty, crispy bacon, sprouts, spiced cranberry ketchup and melted Ogleshield cheese. Oh and not forgetting the side of roast potatoes and turkey gravy for dipping. And if you’re still hungry, try their Christmas nuggets; minced turkey, pigs in blankets and stuffing, wrapped around a 4 cheese sauce (Colston Basset Stilton, Montgomery cheddar, Ogleshield, Mozzarella), rolled around in breadrumbs and deep-fried.
Meanwhile, Byron Burgers, from 1st December, are encouraging us “to give turkey the cold shoulder in favour of the eighth wonder of the world…” Meaning their “Triple Cheesemas” special, a mega burger comprising of two hamburgers and spicy Byron sauce in a glazed bun – combined with American cheese, Emmenthal and Monterey Jack.
MEATliquor actually launched their Christmas menu today with 50% off! In addition to their XXXmas Burger (sausage and stuffing patty, topped with turkey, bacon, cranberry sauce and gravy), they’re offering an XXXmas Dog and Xmac & Cheese. The latter combines deep fried macaroni with Camembert and Stilton, plus a side dip of cranberry and port sauce. To go fully festive, try their Christmas drinks range, including a spiced syrup Old Fashioned Christmas, a Pinot Grinchio, and a vodka, fresh custard and lemonade Snowballer.
Pizza Express’ Christmas menu includes a Romana pizza with pulled duck and plum hoisin sauce, and a Festiva pizza, topped with brie, leek, rosemary and sage on a béchamel base. They’ve also brought back their Snowball Dough Balls, sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar.
The Christmas menu at Strada also features a Pizza Festiva. Theirs is covered in three types of Italian sausage –Nduja (a spicy, spreadable sausage), salsiccia picante (spicy), luganega sausage (a thin sausage).
