Binning Your Coffee Grounds? Think again.

Good Coffee is life changing. Used coffee grounds are waste. Unless you repurpose them! There are so many creative solutions for how you might redirect those used grounds from going to landfill. Did you know used coffee grounds can be used to help grow plants? Mix a bit with your compost and you’re winning. You can bag it up and sell it to customers for their gardens. Or you could offer it for free as an added benefit to your customers, like one of our customers The Corner House does. There’s always another solution to stop waste from being waste – we just need to be creative.

Turn Those Kitchen Blues Green!

Ah, the kitchen. The most beautiful and stressful part of most food-service businesses. Also, one of the most intimidating to get right in terms of sustainability. Fortunately, there are step-by-step resources out there to support you with just that. The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) has published a Sustainable Kitchen Guide which will walk you through it: think water, grease, food waste, efficient kitchen design, energy management, and everything in between.

Suds Into the Sea

This is an easy one! Just like packaging, all you need to do is make a simple swap from not-so-great cleaning products to much-much-better cleaning products! Because if you think about it, the chemicals that make your floor shine, then go down through the drain, flow through the pipes, and then spill right into the ocean. Oh no! So do some research, check out some alternatives, and make the switch to non-toxic, ocean safe products! Here is an article from the Independent to spark some inspiration.
